  • What data and documents do I need?

To apply for a visa for Indonesia, you must fill in a digital form and upload documents. It is recommended to prepare the following documents and details before starting with the application:

    1. The travel plans: You must fill in some details about your upcoming trip to Indonesia in the application form. You are asked about your expected date of arrival, your travel purpose and the location where you spend your first night. You also have to book your return trip before submitting the visa application.

    2. The passport details: You must enter the passport details of each traveller you want to include in your visa application. You need the original passport or a photo/scan of the passport data page to do this.

    3. A digital photograph: You must submit a digital passport photograph of each traveller in your application. This has to be a sharp colour photo of the face of the traveller in question. The facial expression must be neutral, and the background should have a neutral, uniform colour, such as a light wall. It is not necessary to submit an official passport photo, but a selfie usually suffices if it meets all the previously mentioned requirements.

    4. A photo or scan of the passport: Besides the photograph, you must also upload a photo or scan of the data page of each traveller’s passport. This is the plastic page, including your photograph, passport number, date of birth etc. The page should be fully visible, and all details should be legible. Is your signature on another page? If so, that other page should also be visible.

    5. A ticket for your return or onward trip from Indonesia: Finally, you must submit a ticket for a booked return trip from Indonesia. You may submit a flight, bus, or cruise ticket. Make sure that it clearly shows when you will leave Indonesia.

Once you have gathered these details and documents, you can submit your application. You start by opening the application form.

Open the application form to apply for an Indonesia visa

  • Can I submit an application for another person?

Yes, you can apply for a visa for yourself or for another person. You can submit an application for multiple people, by clicking on the button ‘Add traveller’ in the online application form.

A group application allows you to apply for visas for multiple people. You have to fill in the contact and travel details only once per application, meaning that it is quicker to submit a group application compared to submitting individual applications for all fellow travellers. That also allows you to pay the costs for all travellers simultaneously, and to view the status of all applications on one page.

If you apply for a visa for another person, you must have their permission to do so. You also have to read the details you filled in to the person in question, allowing them to verify that all questions are answered truthfully. If you apply for a visa for a minor, you must have the permission of their parents or legal guardians.

  • Is that a 0 or an O in my passport number?

A British passport number is solely made up of digits. This means that the letter O can never appear in a British passport number. It will always be the number 0. For Irish passports, the number always starts with the letter P or L, followed by another letter. These 2 letters are followed by 7 digits. This should clarify whether it is an O or a 0.

If you submit your visa application on e-Visa.co.uk, we will always check whether you accidentally switched up the letter O and the number 0. If this error is discovered, it will be corrected for you immediately. This will allow you to travel without any issues.

Did you submit your visa application on another website? In most cases, this error will not be corrected, causing your visa to be invalid. It is not possible to change the passport number afterwards; you will need to apply for an entirely new visa.

  • I do not understand one of the questions in the application form. What should I do?

The visa application form contains additional explanations to each question. If you fill in the application form on a computer or laptop, you can click on the entry field in question to receive an extensive explanation on the right. If you fill in the form on your smartphone or tablet, you receive additional explanations by clicking on the question mark icon next to the question.

Does this not answer your question? Then you can open the contact page to find out how to reach the customer service.

  • How much does the visa cost and how can I pay?

Applying for an Indonesia visa costs £64.95. This is the final price per person, including VAT. If you submit an urgent application, you are charged £17.50 per person on top of the normal visa price. Additionally, all applicants have the choice to offset the CO₂-emissions of their two-way flight to Indonesia. Finally, German and Dutch citizens may also register their trip at the embassy in Indonesia. These are optional services that may be booked for an additional surcharge, which is displayed in the application form.

The final visa price of £64.95 includes consular fees of 519,500 IDR and service costs of £39.15. The consular costs are charged by the Indonesian immigration service, while the service costs are charged by e-Visa.co.uk.

You can pay the visa costs safely with Mastercard, Visa, American Express, PayPal, Trustly, Google Pay or Apple Pay. You receive a confirmation per e-mail right after you make the payment, and you can also download a receipt.

  • How long does it take until I receive my visa?

De average processing time for the visa is 7 days in case of a normal application. Urgent applications are processed faster, after 24 hourson average. These processing times start once the application and the documents have been submitted in good order.

Please note that the mentioned processing times are average values that are achieved in most cases. However, they cannot be guaranteed. There can be delays, caused by technical problems at e-Visa.co.uk or the immigration service, public holidays in Indonesia, sample checks by the immigration service or a high workload at e-Visa.co.uk or the immigration service. e-Visa.co.uk cannot influence the processing time at the immigration service. The immigration service has the right to do extensive background checks, or to ask for additional information, which may cause delays.

After submitting an application

  • I did not receive an e-mail yet. What should I do?

e-Visa.co.uk sends you a confirmation e-mail once you have made the payment for your application. In some cases, it may take up to 24 hours until you receive this e-mail. If you have not received an e-mail 24 hours later, you should first check your spam folder. If you are unable to find an e-mail by e-Visa.co.uk there either, you can find the status page of your application via the contact page, by using your order number. The order number appears on the bank statement of your payment, among other places. The order number begins with the letter ‘D’.

Are you still unable to find your application? In that case, you can contact the customer service.

  • Can I change the details I submitted?

You can change all the information you submitted until e-Visa.co.uk has accepted the uploaded documents. To change any details, you can reply to one of the e-mails you received from e-Visa.co.uk. During office hours, you will receive a response within a few hours.

After submitting your documents, a visa expert from e-Visa.co.uk will check your application. If everything is in order, your application is forwarded to Indonesia’s immigration service almost immediately. From that moment onwards, you can no longer change any of the details you submitted. Not all mistakes are necessarily a problem. Some important details are checked by e-Visa.co.uk. If any clear mistakes are encountered, they will be corrected for you. If you want to find out which mistakes will cause problems, you can read the answer to the question ‘There is a mistake on my visa. What should I do?’.

  • Can I cancel my application?

You can cancel your order until the immigration service starts to process your application. This happens almost immediately after you have submitted the required documents, and they have been accepted by a visa specialist from e-Visa.co.uk. After the immigration service has started to process your application, you can no longer cancel it. This is a rule by the immigration service. e-Visa.co.uk has no influence on this.

Most travellers want to receive their visas as quickly as possible. Therefore, there is no cooling-off or withdrawal period. This is part of the general terms and conditions. You accepted these terms by ticking a box before making the payment.

If you have not submitted the documents yet, you can cancel your application by contacting the Visa Support Centre. You can do this by responding to an e-mail you received from e-Visa.co.uk.

  • I have been waiting on my visa for a long time. What should I do?

Normal applications have an average processing time of 7 days, and urgent applications are processed in 24 hours on average. Visa applications are usually processed within this time frame, but there may be delays in exceptional cases. A longer processing time does not mean that it has a higher likelihood of being rejected. Most applications are approved, even if they take longer than average to process.

Please keep in mind that visa applications are always processed individually. Therefore, two applications within a group application may be processed at different times. You do not have to worry about this. A longer processing time does not mean that the application has a higher likelihood of being rejected. If you wait for a bit longer, all remaining applications are likely to be approved without any further issues.

Has your visa application been pending for an above-average amount of time, and are you leaving at short notice? Then you can contact the customer service of e-Visa.co.uk. The Visa Support Centre can check the current status of your application and advise you about possible steps that you can take. Most delays are caused by sample checks conducted by the immigration service, however. If this is the case, e-Visa.co.uk cannot influence the processing time of your application.

  • There is a mistake on my visa. What should I do?

If your visa application is under review at the immigration service, or if you have received your visa already, you can no longer change the submitted documents and details. This is usually not necessary, either. Do you need to change your accommodation address or your travel date to Indonesia? A mistake in these two details is not a problem. You may use your visa for your upcoming trip without having to change anything, but you should keep the visa validity term in mind. A mistake in the contact details is not a problem, either.

Mistakes in the passport details usually do cause problems. These are the details that are listed in your passport, including your name, nationality, passport number, date of birth, place of birth and the date of issue and expiry of your passport. e-Visa.co.uk will check many of these details, but you are responsible for filling in the application form correctly yourself. e-Visa.co.uk cannot correct all mistakes.

Did you make a mistake in the passport details? After your documents are accepted by e-Visa.co.uk, you can no longer make any changes. A visa that is issued with erroneous passport details is invalid. The only way to correct a mistake is by applying for a new visa. You do not have to cancel the old application.

  • Can I extend my visa?

You can extend the duration of time you are allowed to stay in Indonesia, but e-Visa.co.uk cannot assist you with the extension. Extending your visa allows you to stay in Indonesia for up to 60 days in total. You can apply for an extension yourself at an office of the immigration service in Indonesia. You may also apply for an extension on a website of the Indonesian immigration service. Find more information about the extension on the page about the validity term of the visa.

Other questions

  • Can I travel to Indonesia if I have a criminal record?

You are not asked any questions about a possible criminal record while applying for an Indonesia e-visa. This means that you can most likely travel to Indonesia, regardless of whether you have a criminal record or not. However, Indonesia’s immigration service may conduct in-depth background checks. This is more common for applications for long-term visas. If the immigration service believes you to be a potential security risk, your visa application may be refused, or you may be refused upon arrival.

Traffic violations and smaller offences usually never have any influence on travelling to Indonesia. Serious offences and crimes can cause problems in certain situations. If you are unsure whether your criminal record is a problem for your trip, you are advised to contact the Indonesian embassy.

  • What do I need to consider when travelling with children?

First, you should make sure that all children have their own passports and visas. Minors also have to meet the requirements regarding the passport and the visa to be allowed to enter Indonesia.

Is a minor travelling without both parents/all their legal guardians? In that case, the minor must be able to present a consent form that is signed by both parents/all legal guardians. It is also recommended to carry a copy of the passports of both parents/legal guardians. You can find more information on gov.uk

  • Do I have to get vaccinated before departing for Indonesia?

There are no mandatory vaccinations for Indonesia, except if you travel from a country with a risk of yellow fever. In that case, you must be vaccinated against yellow fever. There is a general recommendation to get vaccinated against measles-mumps-rubella and diphtheria-tetanus-polio. Also, most travellers are advised to get vaccinated against hepatitis A, tetanus and typhoid. Other vaccinations may be recommended depending on your personal situation and travel plans.

The recommended travel vaccinations may differ for different people. Therefore, you are advised to contact your GP for further advice. The information on this page was not written by a doctor.

  • Does an issued visa guarantee that I can travel to Indonesia?

A visa is a temporary permission for travelling to Indonesia. However, this does not mean that a visa guarantees that you will be actually allowed to enter the country. All travellers are checked again upon arrival in Indonesia. Most travellers who hold a valid visa may enter the country without any issues, but the immigration service has the right to revoke a traveller’s visa, and to deny them entry to the country. This may happen if the traveller is believed to form a security risk, or if they do not meet the visa requirements.

  • What do I have to consider when carrying medication?

You are allowed to bring medicine to Indonesia, but you may require a special licence. You can contact the embassy of Indonesia for more information about carrying medicine and drugs to the country.

  • Is a registration at the embassy mandatory?

Travellers may register their trip with the FCO (Foreign and Commonwealth Office). This is optional, meaning that you are not obligated to do so.

Why is registration with the embassy recommended?
By registering your trip with the embassy, you give the UK government the opportunity to contact you during your trip. This is mainly to provide information in exceptional crisis situations. During the Covid-pandemic, for example, travellers were informed of changing travel advice and repatriation flights.

How can I register my trip with the embassy?
You may register your trip on the government website.

  • What is the CO₂-offset?

After you fill in the application form, you will be given the option to offset the CO₂-emissions of your tip. This is a voluntary contribution that is entirely invested in VCS-certified projects. VCS is one of the best known and most reliable certifiers of climate projects. All projects linked to this certificate are strictly monitored to ensure that they have a positive climate impact. The projects are carried out in various parts of the world, with the aim of reducing CO₂-emissions and supporting social developments. These include reforestation campaigns in Zimbabwe, the development of renewable energy sources in Uganda or the installation of more energy-efficient cook tops in India.

The surcharge for the CO₂-offset depends on your travel destination and your home country. The contribution is calculated by looking at the CO₂-emissions of a two-way flight to Indonesia in economy class. By choosing to offset your CO₂-emissions, you can easily ensure that your flight is CO₂ neutral. More information about the CO₂-offset through e-Visa.co.uk.
