Saudi Arabia introduced an e-visa in 2019 to simplify the application process. Currently, it is no longer necessary to make an appointment at the embassy or consulate in most cases. You can simply fill in the application form online and pay the visa fee. Once your visa has been granted, you will receive it by email. Print it out and take it with you on your trip.

The Saudi Arabia visa has a validity period of one year, and allows a maximum stay of 90 days. The visa allows you to visit friends or family, go on a tourist trip, take a business trip or go on umrah. You may travel to Saudi Arabia multiple times with the same visa, but you will only be allowed to stay in the country for a maximum of 90 days with the same visa. If you want to stay in Saudi Arabia for more than 90 days, you will need a different type of visa. You can apply for it at the embassy.

The application procedure, step by step

To obtain a Saudi Arabia visa, you must complete all steps of the application procedure:

• Complete the application form
• Pay the visa fee
• Submit your documents
• Receive and print your visa

Open the application form on your computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone. You will need to enter your passport details, travel destination and your address in Saudi Arabia, among other things. You have the possibility to apply for several visas for several people with a single application form. Once you have completed the entire form and carefully checked that all the info is correct, you can pay for the visa. After payment, you will need to submit an ID photo or a selfie. Your application will then be forwarded to the Saudi immigration services. The visa will be granted after 14 days on average. You will receive your visa by email. Print it out and take it with you on your trip.

What do I need for my visa application?
You will need a number of things to apply for a visa for Saudi Arabia. The most important thing is that you always need to check the visa requirements. You can only apply for the e-visa if you meet all of them. To successfully complete the entire application process, you will need the following:

• A computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone;
• The option to make an online payment;
• A digital ID photo;
• The passport details for each of the travellers in the application form.

1 | Fill-in the application form

The first step in the application process consists in completing the application form. Enter your contact details, including an email address, mobile phone number and home address. Next, introduce your travel details: expected arrival date, destination and address of the first accommodation where you will be staying. After this, you can add travellers to the form. You can apply for visas for multiple travellers at the same time by clicking on the “Add a traveller” button. Be aware, however, that all travellers in the form must have the same destination and accommodation address.

You must fill in a series of personal details for each traveller. Make sure that you enter the travellers' passport details correctly on the application form. The visa will only be valid if the visa contains the correct passport details. If these are not correct, the person with that visa will not be able to travel to Saudi Arabia. They will need to apply for a new visa.

If you need to travel to Saudi Arabia urgently, you have the possibility to select the “urgent delivery” option on the application form. Urgent applications are usually processed within 7 days, while regular applications have an average delivery time of 14 days. Urgent applications are subject to a surcharge of £17.50 per traveller.

Stap 2 | Complete the payment

After completing the application form, you will have the opportunity to double-check all the data you have entered. If everything is correct, you can proceed to pay for the visa. You can do it through several common online payment methods, such as credit card, Google Pay, Apple Pay or PayPal. You will then be redirected to the secure online environment of your chosen payment method.

The Saudi Arabia e-Visa includes a Saudi health insurance that covers emergencies. It is not possible to opt out of this health insurance. Moreover, it is actually recommended to also arrange a personal good travel insurance for your trip.

3 | Upload your ID photo

You must upload a clear ID photo for each traveller in the application form. After that, your visa application will be forwarded to the immigration services. You can do this on your personal status page. You don't need to upload an official ID photo. A selfie taken with your own phone will be enough. Bear in maind that the photo must meet a number of requirements. For example, the image must be sharp and in colour, the traveller must stand in front of a neutral background and look at the camera with a neutral expression. Head coverings are only permitted for religious reasons.

If you don't have the passport photos of all travellers with you, you can submit them later. Your application is already saved in the system. You can only submit the photos digitally. It is therefore not possible to send the photos by post.

Once all the photographs have been uploaded, they will first be checked by a visa specialist at e-Visa.co.uk. If anything is missing, or if the photographs are submitted incorrectly, you will be contacted. Please note that your application will only be processed once you have submitted all the photographs correctly.

Stap 4 | Receive and print your visa

As soon as all the documents have been submitted correctly, your application will be forwarded to the Saudi immigration services. This is the authority that has the power to approve your application and grant your visa. The delivery time is 14 days on average. If you have submitted an urgent application, the delivery time will be of approximately 7 days. Once the immigration services have approved your application, you will receive an email and a text message. You can then download and print each traveller's visa. Keep the visa with you during your trip so that you can show it to the Saudi authorities if requested.
