You need to meet a number of requirements to be eligible to apply for a Saudi Arabia visa. These requirements have to do with your passport, your travel destination and your behaviour, among other things. If you meet all the requirements listed on this page, you can apply for a Saudi Arabia visa at once.

Simple online application procedure

You need a visa to travel to Saudi Arabia. Fortunately, you can easily apply for an online e-visa. You don't need to make an appointment at the embassy or the consulate first. You will only need a few minutes to complete the digital application form.

Fill in the application form and upload your ID photo. After this, your application will be forwarded directly to the Saudi immigration service. The visa will be granted after 14 days on average, and it will be valid for 1 year. Within this time, you may travel to the country several times. However, during the one year validity period of your visa, you will be able to stay in Saudi Arabia for a maximum of 90 days only.

Make sure you meet the requirements

Read the visa requirements carefully before starting your application. You will only be eligible for the Saudi Arabia visa if you fulfill all these requirements. These are some of the most important requirements for the Saudi Arabia visa:

  • You are travelling for a holiday, to visit friends/family, for a short business trip, for a transfer or to participate in the Umrah.
  • Upon arrival, you need to show your visa to the customs officer. If asked, you must prove that you have the financial ressources to pay for your trip.
  • Your passport is issued by a country that is eligible for the e-visa. This passport must have a residual validity of 6 months on the day you arrive in Saudi Arabia.

Your travel destination in Saudi Arabia

You may use the e-visa for Saudi Arabia for various travel purposes, including tourism, visiting friends/family, short business trips, a transit or participating in the Umrah. The e-visa does not allow you to work for a Saudi employer, undergo medical treatment or study in the country. For this, you will need to apply for other types of visas at the embassy.

Mosque in the mountains of Saudi ArabiaThe Sayyid al-Shuhada Mosque is an important pilgrimage site for Muslims around the world.

The e-visa allows you to travel to Saudi Arabia for business. You may attend meetings, other business appointments and visit conferences or workshops. However, you may not receive any kind of retribution from a Saudi organisation. If this is the case, you must apply for a work visa.

The e-visa allows you to go on Umrah in Saudi Arabia. However, it does not permit you to participate in the Hajj. For this, you need a special Hajj visa, which you must apply for via the Saudi authorities' webiste. During the Hajj season, the e-visa will not allow you to perform the Umrah with the e-visa.

Important: only Muslims may access certain holy sites within Islam. Access to Mecca is totally forbidden for non-Muslims. Since 2023, Medina is accessible to tourists, but only Muslims may access the Mosque of the Prophet (the mosque that houses the tomb of the Prophet Muhammad). The religious police monitors this strictly. If you do not comply with the rules, you risk a fine or criminal prosecution and you may be deported.

Transfers

If you are flying to Saudi Arabia for a transfer, you don't leave the transit zone and your connecting flight departs within 12 hours, you will not need a visa. Please note that this only applies if you are travelling with an unique ticket. If you will leave Saudi Arabia with a different flight ticket than the one you arrived with, you will need to check in again, and therefore you will need a visa.

If you book your flight with the Saudi airlines Saudia Airlines or Flynas a stopover transit visa will be included in your flight ticket price. This transit visa, valid for three months, allows you to enter the country once and stay for a maximum of 96 hours.

Arrival in Saudi Arabia

The Saudi Arabia e-visa allows you to arrive to any airport or border crossing in the country. You will need to produce your visa at the customs officers upon arrival. Keep a printed version of your visa at hand. You also need to prove that you have enough financial resources to afford your stay. Please note that your e-visa is not a guarantee that you will be allowed to enter the country. The customs officer will ultimately decide if you can enter the country.

If your passport is not valid for long enough, you will need to apply for a new passport in good time and submit a visa application with your new passport.

You can only apply for a Saudi Arabia visa with a regular passport. Emergency passports, travel permits or refugee passports are not accepted. If you have a diplomatic or service passport, you can only apply for a Saudi Arabia visa through the embassy.
