You will be able to travel to England or another nation of the United Kingdom as soon as your application is approved. Please make sure you meet all the ETA UK requirements. Summary of the UK ETA application process

Are you planning a trip to the United Kingdom? You can easily apply online for an UK ETA. You can submit an individual application, but you can also apply for multiple people at the same time. You will need the following to submit your application:

  • a computer, tablet or smartphone with an internet connection.
  • a digital photograph of all the travellers you want to include in the UK ETA application*.
  • a digital copy of the passport of all the travellers you want to include in the UK ETA application.
  • the essentials to make an online payment.

* It doesn't have to be an official passport photo. You may also take the photo yourself. Make sure the photo is sharp and in colour.

Open the online application form to start the application. Make sure all the data are filled in correctly. Mistakes could result in an invalid ETA UK, or in your application being rejected. You will need the contact, travel and passport details of each traveller you want to include in the application form. After completing the application form, you will have to make the payment and provide a digital ID photo and a passport copy for each traveller. Once the application is approved, you will receive a confirmation e-mail with a clear explanation on how to download your UK ETA.

Step 1 | Fill in the ETA UK application form

Start your ETA UK application by filling in the digital application form. First, enter your contact details, (home address, email address and phone number). You only need to do this once, regardless of the number of travellers included in the application. Next, fill in a series of personal details, including the passport details, for each traveller. In this part of the application form you will need to provide information about each traveller's occupation and potential criminal record. By clicking on the 'Add traveller' button at the bottom of the ETA UK form, you can add multiple travellers to the application form. Once you have provided the required details for all travellers, you can submit the completed form by clicking on the green button at the bottom right of the page.

Step 2 | Make the payment

After submitting the application form, you will be directed to the verification page, where you will be able to check all the filled in data. Carefully check all the data, in particular the e-mail address and passport details. You might have problems if there is a mistake in those sections. Once you have checked all the data and verified that everything is correct, choose a payment method to pay for the ETA UK fee. You can choose from a number of widely used and secure payment methods, such as Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Google Play, Apple Pay or PayPal.

Once you have selected a payment method, confirm that you want to submit the application. Upon confirmation, you will be redirected to a secure online environment where you will be able to make the payment. You don't need to pay the ETA UK fee immediately, but please do not delay the payment either. Any unpaid application will be automatically cancelled after a week. This means that all the information you have entered will be deleted. Should you still want to apply for a UK ETA, you will have to fill in all the details again.

Step 3 | Provide the required documents

Once you have filled in the form and payed the ETA fee, you will need to provide a number of documents to complete your ETA application. This is also done online. There is no need to send documents by post or bring them in person. You can submit the documents immediately after paying for your application, but you can also submit them at a later time. In this last case, you will receive an e-mail with instructions on how to submit them. The following documents must be submitted for each traveller in the application:

  • a passport scan or photo;
  • an identity photo or a photo of the traveller's face.

Both documents must be sharp and in colour. All the passport details must be legible, and the signature needs to be clearly visible. The ID photo must show the traveller's face completely, including the neck and a small part of the shoulders. The traveller needs to have a neutral facial expression and the background of the photo needs to have a neutral, even colour. Make sure the photo is properly exposed.

Step 4 | Obtain your UK ETA

Once you have correctly submitted all the required documents, your ETA UK application will be processed. First, a visa specialist from e-Visa.co.uk will check if the documents meet the requirements and if a series of common mistakes were made when filling in the data. If anything is unclear or missing, you will be contacted immediately so that you will be able to correct the mistakes.

If your application meets all the requirements, it will be processed and forwarded to the British Immigration Service. The immigration service is responsible for assessing all submitted ETA UK applications. In the vast majority of cases, applications are processed without any problems within 3 days . As soon as your application will be approved, you will receive an email and a text message. Then you will be able to download your UK ETA from your secure personal status page and travel to the UK.
