What is an e-visa?

An e-visa is an electronic document in the form of a PDF file. E-visas are not applied for at an embassy or consulate, but online using a digital application form. These e-visas are therefore not physically stamped into the passport of the applicant, as was the case in the past.

An e-visa is electronically linked to a passport. Through this electronic link, immigration departments can use the passport details of an incoming traveller to check if they have a valid travel permit. More and more countries have started making use of electronic issuing systems for e-visas due to their simplicity, lower costs and shorter approval times.

Only e-visas since 2021

Kenya introduced the e-visa in 2015 as an extra option to regular visas. However, it quickly turned out that most travellers preferred the online application procedure. The e-visa was also a major improvement for the immigration department and embassies. That is why in 2021 the Kenyan government decided to abolish the old application procedures at the embassies.

How does the application procedure work?

The application procedure for the e-visa Kenya can be quickly and easily completed online. It can even be done on your smartphone. An e-visa application begins with opening and filling in the application form.

Carefully write down all your details in the form, making sure to check for any typing errors. Afterwards, you can pay the visa costs, which can be done with various safe online payment methods. You will then be forwarded to the submission page. Here, you must provide several documents, including a photograph, a scan of your passport and a booking confirmation. Carefully read all the instructions on that page

After submitting the documents, your application for the e-visa Kenya is processed. Often, you will receive an e-mail the following working day which states if your documents have been approved by the visa specialists of e-Visa.co.uk. Our visa specialists will also check if your application form is free of errors. If everything is in order, your application is submitted to the immigration department. This is the branch of the Government of Kenya which approves or rejects your application. If no problems are found, your e-visa will be issued. You will then receive an e-mail or a text message.

What is the delivery time for the e-visa Kenya?
