Explanation Myanmar visa
All British and Irish citizens that are travelling to Myanmar in 2020 or 2021 must apply for a visa. Only inhabitants of Myanmar and a limited number of other Asian countries don’t need a visa to enter the country. The visa requirement therefore applies to all British and Irish tourists, regardless of age. In recent years, it has become possible to submit the application online. It is therefore no longer necessary to pay a visit to the Myanmar embassy in London in order to apply for a Myanmar visa.
What is the visa for Myanmar? The visa for Myanmar is an electronic document and is thus also called the e-visa. After approval it is sent to you by e-mail. Strictly speaking the visa itself is not sent, but a so called “approval letter”. This is a confirmation which states that the concerning traveller will be allowed to enter Myanmar. At the passport check after arrival, the actual visa will be affixed to the passport. All costs of the Myanmar visa are already charged during the online application procedure. No additional payments need to be made on arrival.
Validity of the visa
The tourist visa has a validity duration of 90 days. During this period, you can stay in Myanmar for a maximum of 28 consecutive days. Even travellers that arrive in Myanmar on the 90th day after approval of the visa can stay in the country 28 days from the day of arrival. It is therefore possible to postpone the final date of arrival after the submission of an application. The visa can be used to enter the country a single time. If you leave and want to return to Myanmar at a later date, you will need to apply for a new visa.
Requirements for the traveller and the trip

Travelling out of the country is likewise only allowed through these airports and border crossings, as well as through Htikee. Travellers that want to travel into the country from a different place need to apply for a specific travel permit at the Myanmar embassy in London.
