The application procedure for the Myanmar visa takes place entirely online. It is not necessary to make a visit to the embassy or consulate. Applying takes five minutes; granting takes 24 hours to 7 days on average, depending on the chosen delivery time.

Step 1: Check if you meet the visa requirements

Virtually all travellers who want to travel to Myanmar meet all of the requirements tied to the visa. Regardless, it is recommended to closely read the requirements beforehand to avoid any potential problems.

Step 2: Gather information

Before applying for the Myanmar visa, it is useful to gather some information. This way, the application form in the next step can be completed quickly and easily.

It is possible to submit an application for a single visa or for an entire group at once. For a group application, the same form can be used. At the bottom of the form, the button ‘Add traveller’ can be clicked, which makes extra fields appear for additional travellers. If a group application is utilised for the Myanmar visa, it is important to gather the following information for all travellers who are applying for a visa.

Contact information

The form will first ask for the contact information of the first traveller. The person whose contact information is put into this section will become the main point of contact for all of the visas requested. This will be the email address that receives all the visas after approval. If the travellers in the group application live in different locations, this is not a problem; this information only needs to be filled in for one person.

Travel details

A number of details regarding the trip need to be filled in:

  • The expected date of arrival*
  • The border crossing or airport of arrival**
  • The address of an overnight stay in Myanmar***

* The actual date of arrival can differ from this. Read more about this on the page about the validity duration of the Myanmar visa.
** It is only permitted to arrive through one of the border crossing or airports that are mentioned on the visa requirements page.
*** It is not necessary to have already established all overnight stays, only a single location is asked for.

Passport information

The following passport information needs to be filled in for each traveller:

  • The complete first and last name
  • Sex
  • Date of birth
  • Issue date and expiry date of the passport

If the traveller is employed, their profession needs to be provided.

Passport photo

A passport photo for each traveller applying for a visa must be provided. This can be done easily through the upload-tool. Virtually all file formats are accepted. However, it must be a photo with a clear and sharp focus, with a white background. A selfie can also suffice, provided it meets the requirements.

Step 3: Filling in the visa application form

Applying for the Myanmar visa happens entirely online through the digital application form. Open it by pressing the button below:
Open the application form ‘Myanmar visa’

Next, fill in the information as described in step 2. If it is not clear what is meant with a certain question, click on the input field. On the right, further explanation will automatically appear. If you fill in the form on your mobile phone or tablet, click the question mark symbol for more information.

Fill in passport information

Be careful when writing down the passport information
On arrival in Myanmar, you will be asked for printed proof of approval of the visa. Furthermore, a check is performed based on the passport number of each traveller. Travellers whose passport number does not appear in the database with approved visas are not allowed entry into Myanmar. If a wrong passport number is typed in on the application form, this can result in the visa being declared invalid. Very carefully check all filled-in passport information before submitting the application.

Step 4: Pay for the visa cost

After the application form has been completely filled in, click ‘Apply for visa’ at the bottom of the form. You will be forwarded to the control page. Here, you can check all filled-in information for any mistakes. If required, you can make changes. At the bottom of the control page, you will be asked to choose a payment method to pay for the Myanmar visa. You can choose from Visa, MasterCard, American Express or PayPal.

Step 5: Provide a passport photo (upload)

Right after completing the payment, the upload page will appear. Here, you will upload a passport photo for each person applying for a visa. Virtually all formats and file sizes are accepted. The passport photo is automatically cropped into the right proportion.

Step 6: Receive Approval Letter

Typically, once applications are submitted, an Approval Letter is sent by e-mail within 7 days. This is a confirmation that the visa has been granted. The actual visa is only applied to the passport upon arrival in Myanmar. It is not necessary to make an appointment with the consulate or embassy beforehand. No additional costs are charged for applying the visa to the passport in Myanmar.

Applications that are submitted urgently are granted sooner. Tourists with urgent applications receive their Approval Letter within 24 hours.

Step 7: Travelling to Myanmar and passing the passport check

It is very important that each traveller takes their passport and their own Approval Letter with them on their trip. These need to be provided upon arrival in Myanmar. The Approval Letter needs to be printed on A4 (black and white or colour). Showing the Approval Letter on a digital screen is not enough, it must be printed. The moment that the visa is applied to the passport in Myanmar, it is stamped right away; from that moment, you are permitted to stay in the country for 28 days as a tourist.

e-Visa.co.uk is a commercial and professional visa agency, and supports travellers in obtaining, among others, the Myanmar visa. e-Visa.co.uk is an official partner of the International Air Transport Association, IATA, with membership number 57231226, acts as an intermediary, is no law firm, nor does it employ lawyers, does not provide legal advice, and is in no way part of any government. You can also apply for a visa directly with the immigration service (50 USD per visa, via evisa.moip.gov.mm). However, not with our level of support. If you submit your application via e-Visa.co.uk, our support centre is available to you 24/7. In addition, we manually check your application and all the documents you provide before submitting it to the immigration authorities on your behalf. If we suspect any errors or omissions while doing so, we will personally contact you to ensure that your application can still be processed quickly and correctly. To use our services, you pay us 50 USD in consular fees, which we pay to the immigration service on your behalf, as well as £40.40 in service fees as compensation for our services, including VAT. Our services have saved many travellers from major problems during their trip. Should an application be rejected despite our support and verification, we will refund the full purchase price (unless an application for a previous Myanmar visa was rejected for the same traveller).
