Explanation Cambodia visa
If you plan on travelling to Cambodia in 2021 or 2022, you are required to apply for a visa. All British and Irish citizens must meet this requirement. If you are travelling with children, they each need to possess their own visa for Cambodia.
What is a Cambodia visa? The Cambodia visa is a travel permit issued by the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. For tourists that want to stay in the country for less than 30 days, there is the possibility of applying for the visa entirely online. In that case, travellers do not need to make an appointment at the embassy. Apply for the Cambodia visa now.
Validity of the visa
The Cambodia visa has a validity term of 90 days and a maximum length of stay of 30 days. The validity term commences right from the moment that your application is approved by the immigration service. Usually this happens within 24 hours, or at maximum several days after applying. If you submit your application more than 30 days before arriving in Cambodia, it will be processed exactly 30 days before your date of arrival, so that the visa is valid for your entire stay. You can only enter and leave the country during the overall validity term of 90 days. Take note: you can only travel to Cambodia once with each visa. More information about the validity can be found on the page concerning the Cambodia visa validity.
Requirements of the visa
The Cambodia visa is meant for people that want to enter the country for a holiday. Be aware that you need to bring the following documents with you on your trip to make it past the passport check at the immigration post:
- The passport with which you applied for the visa, which needs to be valid for at least 6 more months from the moment you arrive in Cambodia
- The printed visa for Cambodia, in duplicate. When entering Cambodia through one of the immigration posts listed below, you hand over one copy of the printed visa. When exiting the country (this is possible at every border crossing) you hand over the second copy.
- Arriving in Cambodia is permitted at each of the following locations:
|Name location of arrival||Type|
|Phnom Penh||International airport|
|Siem Reap||International airport|
|Sihanoukville (Preah Sihanouk)||International airport|
|Cham Yeam (Koh Kong)||Border crossing with Thailand|
|Poi Pet (Banteay Meanchey)||Border crossing with Thailand|
|Bavet (Svay Rieng)||Border crossing with Vietnam|
|Tropaeng Kreal (Stung Treng)||Border crossing with Laos|
Apply for the Cambodia visa
How does applying for the Cambodia visa work? The procedure consists of three simple steps. First, you fill in the Cambodia visa application form. Next, you pay for the visa, which can be done with Visa, MasterCard, American Express or PayPal. The costs are £59.95 per person (including for children). Finally, you are asked to upload a passport photo and passport scan. This can be quickly done through the online upload tool on this website, in which virtually all file formats and sizes are accepted, and where you can easily crop the images.
As soon as your application is received, it is manually checked and then forwarded to the immigration service for processing. If any mistakes or incompleteness are suspected, you will be contacted directly, so that you can correct the application. However, not all input mistakes can be tracked down, so always make sure that you fill in and provide the right information.
When do I need to apply for my Cambodia visa?
You can submit your application anywhere, at any time; 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, even during the weekends and on holidays. It does not matter if you are still at home or already abroad. However, you can only enter Cambodia once your visa application has been approved. Are you arriving in more than a month’s time? Then your application is put on hold until exactly 30 days before departure. This is because the validity term starts right after approval. This way, your Cambodia visa is valid from 30 days before the filled in date of arrival until up to 60 days after (in total 90 days). This gives you the freedom to postpone the exact date of arrival. Are you in urgent need of a visa? Then you can also submit an urgent application.
Need an urgent delivery in 24 hours? If you wish to make use of the urgent procedure, an additional fee of £17.50 is charged. These costs are added to the basic price of the visa by selecting the option “Urgent delivery” in the form. These applications are processed faster, often within 24 hours. However, the immigration service cannot offer any guarantees on the delivery times (even when urgent).
