You are required to hold a visa when entering Cambodia. Most travellers can apply for their visa online, which is not difficult. However, you should prepare some information and documents before opening the application form.

Apply for your Cambodia visa online

Most travellers can apply for the mandatory Cambodia visa online. It is best to submit the application well before your departure to make sure that the visa is issued on time. After submitting your application, it takes an average of 7 days before the visa is issued. You may also submit an urgent application, which is processed in only 4 days on average. The visa may be used for tourist stays of up to 30 days, and you have the opportunity to extend the permitted length of your stay by another 30 days.

You apply for the Cambodia visa by filling in the online application form, paying the cost and uploading two documents per traveller. You can find further explanations about the process as you fill in the application form, so you can start submitting your visa application immediately. Below, there is an extensive explanation of all the steps you need to take to apply for a Cambodia visa.

Step 1: Prepare your visa application

It is advisable to make some preparations before opening the application form. First, you should decide how many visas you want to apply for. If you travel to Cambodia with other people, it is easier and faster to submit a group application, instead of submitting individual applications for each traveller. Group applications are only possible if you arrive at the same location as your travel companions, if you stay in the same accommodation, and if you live in the same country.

As soon as you know for whom you want to apply for a visa, you can start collecting the following information and documents:

  • Your arrival location in Cambodia
  • The expected date of your arrival in Cambodia
  • The address of your first accommodation in Cambodia
  • A photo or scan of each traveller’s passport
  • A digital passport photo or neat selfie of each traveller

Attention: The passport needs to be valid for at least 6 months
The passport is the most important travel document for Cambodia. Make sure that your passport and the passports of your travel companions meet the requirements. Upon arrival in Cambodia, the passport has to be valid for at least 6 more months. Also, keep in mind that the visa is only valid if it is used in combination with the passport that was used for the visa application. Did anyone in your party receive a new passport? Then you have to apply for a new visa with the new passport.

Step 2: Fill in the application form

You start your visa application for Cambodia by filling in the digital application form. Fill in all details thoroughly. The first part is about your contact and travel details. You need to fill in these details only once, regardless of the number of travellers in your application.

Next, you have to answer a few questions for every traveller. You need the passport (or a photo of the passport) of the traveller in question. You can add additional travellers to your application by clicking on the blue button at the bottom of the form. Once you answered all the questions for all travellers, you can accept the statement of agreement and click on the green button ‘Apply for visa’.

Step 3: Check the information and choose a payment method

After filling in the form, you have a last chance to check all the submitted details. Check each traveller’s passport details with particular care. Submitting incorrect passport details may have consequences for the visa validity. You are responsible for filling in the application form correctly yourself. Afterwards, you choose a payment method, such as credit card or PayPal, and click on the green button at the bottom of the page to pay the visa cost.

Step 4: Pay the visa cost

You are automatically forwarded to the payment page, depending on which payment method you chose. The Cambodia visa costs £64.95 per person. This is the final price per visa. If you choose to have your application processed urgently, an additional registration at the embassy or carbon offsetting, you are charged additional costs. These options are voluntary. You receive a confirmation per e-mail after the payment is made.

Step 5: Upload the documents

Once you filled in the application form and paid the visa cost, you need to upload the required documents. You are either forwarded to the page where you can upload the documents, or you receive information about this per e-mail. To finalise the application, you need a photo or scan of each traveller’s passport. All passport details should be visible, and the text should be clearly legible.

Next to the passport, you also need a digital passport photo of each traveller. This does not have to be an official passport photo, but the face of the traveller in question should be clearly visible. The traveller should look straight into the camera with a neutral expression. Also, make sure that the face is well-lit and that the background has a neutral colour.

Step 6: Await review

Your application is processed as soon as you submit your documents. First, a visa specialist at e-Visa.co.uk checks whether your documents meet the requirements. Furthermore, some of the details you filled in are checked automatically and manually. In case of any unclarities or missing information, you are contacted as soon as possible. Please keep an eye on your e-mail and telephone.

If the visa specialist of e-Visa.co.uk accepts your documents, your application is forwarded to the Cambodian immigration department. The immigration department reviews your application and checks whether you meet all visa requirements. On average, applications for Cambodia are processed in 7 days (4 days for urgent applications). There may be delays in exceptional cases, e.g. due to a sample check by the immigration services. Once your application is processed, you receive an e-mail and a text message.

Step 7: Print the visa twice

You receive instructions on how to download and print the visa. The visa is issued as a PDF file. You are advised to check all details on each visa thoroughly. If any of the visas contains a mistake, it may be declared invalid. Find out what you can do in case of an error by reading the frequently asked questions about the Cambodia visa.

You have to print each visa twice. That is because you have to submit one copy on arrival and a second copy once you depart from the country. Additionally, you are advised to also save a copy of the PDF file on your phone, as that allows you to print the visa again in case you lose a copy.

Step 8: Travel to Cambodia

When entering Cambodia, you have to hand out your printed visa and to show your passport. You also have to fill in an immigration form. You may do this at your arrival airport, but you can also fill in the so-called e-Arrival Card before departure. The immigration department may ask you about your travel purpose and your plans. It is good to be prepared for this. However, entering Cambodia with a visa usually goes smoothly and without any particular issues.
