You are always required to present a visa when you arrive in the country.

Are you only transiting in Cambodia? In that case, you do not always need a visa. You can ask your airline for more information about the rules in your specific case.

You can apply for the Cambodia visa online. The online application consists of a digital form that you need to fill in, after which you pay the visa cost and upload a few documents. You can complete the application in 10 minutes.

You may also apply for the visa at the embassy of Cambodia or on arrival in the country. If you want to apply for the visa on arrival, you have to wait in an additional line at the airport, fill in a form and pay the cost in cash. If you apply for the visa online before departure, you can enter the country more quickly, and you do not need to pay any additional fees on arrival.

  • Do I have to go to the embassy for my visa application?

In most cases, it is not necessary to go to the Cambodian embassy to apply for a visa. If you are travelling to Cambodia for tourist purposes and do not intend to stay in the country for more than 30 days, you can apply for the visa online easily. Do you not meet the requirements of the Cambodia tourist visa that is available on this website, e.g. because you arrive in Cambodia by (cruise-)ship or boat, or because you travel to Cambodia for business? In that case, you can contact the embassy of Cambodia to ask how you can get the required visa.

  • Which requirements do I have to meet for the visa application?

You have to meet the following requirements to be eligible for the Cambodia visa:

    1. Your passport has to be valid for 6 months beyond your arrival date in Cambodia. If your passport expires earlier than that, you may not enter the country. Various institutions advise travellers to use a passport that is valid for at least 6 months beyond the return to their home country, but that is not strictly necessary. Do you currently not have a passport, or does your passport expire too soon? Then you should apply for a new passport first and submit your visa application afterwards.

    2. You must travel with the same passport you used for your visa application. Did you receive a new passport in the meantime? In that case, your visa is no longer valid, meaning that you have to apply for a new visa with your new passport.

    3. Your travel purpose must be tourism. The visa you can apply for on this website is only suited for tourists. This means that you are allowed to engage in recreational activities, such as visiting museums, temples, beaches and national parks. You may also visit sports or music events, or you may visit family in Cambodia. However, you are not allowed to do business on a tourist visa. Officially, you are also not allowed to work in Cambodia (neither as a paid employee nor as a volunteer).

    4. You must arrive at one of the permitted arrival location. You are allowed to arrive at one of the following locations:

    • Phnom Penh International Airport (airport)
    • Siem Reap Angkor International Airport (airport)
    • Sihanoukville International Airport (airport)
    • Cham Yeam (border crossing to Thailand)
    • Poi Pet (border crossing to Thailand)
    • Bavet (border crossing to Vietnam)
    • Tropaeng Kreal Border Post (border crossing to Laos)

You are not allowed to arrive at a seaport. You may exit the country wherever you want.

  • How long does it take until I receive the visa?

After submitting an application, it takes on average 7 days until the visa is issued. You may also submit an urgent application, which means that e-Visa.co.uk processes your application more quickly. The average delivery time for urgent applications is 4 days.

Please note that these delivery times are average values which cannot be guaranteed. Most applications are processed within the average delivery times, but it might take longer to process applications in exceptional cases. A high workload or technical problems at e-Visa.co.uk or the immigration service may cause delays. Also, public holidays in Cambodia or sample checks by the immigration service may lead to longer processing times.

  • How long is the visa valid for?

The Cambodia visa is valid for 90 days, and it allows you to stay in Cambodia for up to 30 days. The validity term starts on the day the visa is issued. Your visa must be valid at the time you arrive in the country. If you arrive in Cambodia within the validity term, you may stay in the country for the following 30 days. Additionally, you can extend the number of days you are allowed to stay in Cambodia for. You can find more information about this on the page about the visa validity term.

You may submit your visa application as far in advance as you want. That is because your application will be put on hold if it is submitted more than a month before your expected arrival in Cambodia.

Questions about the online application

  • How do I apply for a visa for Cambodia?

You can apply for the Cambodia visa online. You can complete the application within 10 minutes from home. The online application consists of a digital form, an online payment and the submission of a few documents digitally. You can submit an application for yourself and any other travellers you want to apply a visa for.

Go straight to the application form

In the first part of the application form, you have to enter your contact details and answer a few questions about your travel plans. Next, there is a part about the passport details of each traveller you want to include in your visa application. You should be particularly careful when filling in the passport details, as any mistakes in this part of the form could lead to your application being rejected, or the visa might be issued, but declared invalid.

After filling in the application form, you can pay the visa cost. You can do this easily online by credit card, PayPal or another available payment method.

Next, you can submit the documents. To finalise your application, you have to upload a photograph of each traveller as well as a photo or scan of each traveller’s passport. This is done on a special and secure upload-page. It is highly important that both pictures are sharp. You may crop both pictures before you submit them.

Once a visa expert at e-Visa.co.uk has checked your application and the documents you submitted, you will receive a confirmation by e-mail. If everything is complete and your documents have been accepted, your application is forwarded to Cambodia’s immigration service. The immigration service reviews your visa application and subsequently issues the visa as a PDF. Once your visa is issued, you receive a text messages and an e-mail with instructions about how to download and print the visa. Do you have any more questions? Have a look at the page with an extensive explanation of the online application.

  • When should I apply for the visa?

It is best to apply for your visa well before your departure. However, you must know the approximate date when you will travel to Cambodia and at which location you will arrive in the country, before you submit your application. Also, you must know the address of a hotel or another type of accommodation in Cambodia where you will stay for at least one night.

You may deviate from the accommodation and arrival location at a later stage, and you do not have to inform anyone about changes in your travel plans. You may also travel to Cambodia a few weeks earlier or later than you originally planned, but make sure to arrive in the country within the validity period of the visa.

If you submit your visa application more than 30 days before you travel to Cambodia, your application will be put on hold first. This is done to make sure your visa does not expire before you arrive in Cambodia. Your application is processed exactly 30 days before your expected arrival date. The visa is issued an average of 7 days later per e-mail.

Do you travel to Cambodia on short notice? Normal applications are processed after 7 days on average. Urgent applications have a shorter average delivery time of 4 days. You can submit an urgent application by selecting the option ‘urgent delivery’ in the application form.

  • Can I apply for a visa for someone else?

Yes. You may submit a visa application for another person. You may also submit a group application by adding multiple travellers to your application. Simply press the button ‘Add a traveller’ in the application form. It is easier to submit a group application than to submit individual applications for multiple travellers.

If you want to submit an application for another person, you need their consent. You also have to read the details you entered to the person in question so they can confirm that all questions were answered truthfully. If you want to submit a visa application for a minor, you must have their parents’ or legal guardians’ consent.

  • What do I need for the visa application?

It is not difficult to submit a visa application for Cambodia. Most importantly, you need the passport or an image of the passport of each traveller you wish to apply a visa for. You receive additional explanations about which data and documents you have to submit during the application process, so you can start with your visa application immediately.

Open the application form and start applying for a visa

It may however be useful to prepare some data and documents so that you can submit your application swiftly and correctly. You need the following data and documents.

    1. Your travel details. You must have made a rough planning before submitting the application. In the application form, you will be asked about your expected arrival date and your arrival location. Also, you must enter a travel purpose and the address of the location where you will spend your first night in Cambodia. You may deviate from these plans later.

    2. Traveller details. You must fill in some passport details of each traveller in your application. Therefore, you need each traveller’s passport. These are the most important details in the application form, so you should fill in this part of the form with particular care.

    3. Digital passport photo. You need to upload a digital photograph of each traveller in your application. You may submit a homemade photo or a selfie. However, the photo must be sharp, the face should be well-lit and fully visible and the background should be of a neutral and even colour.

    4. Digital copy of the passport. Finally, you must upload a digital copy of each traveller’s passport. This may be a photo or a scan. However, it is crucial that all details on the passport are visible and legible.

  • Is that a 0 or an O in my passport number?

A British passport number is solely made up of digits. This means that the letter O can never appear in a British passport number. It will always be the number 0. For Irish passports, the number always starts with the letter P or L, followed by another letter. These 2 letters are followed by 7 digits. This should clarify whether it is an O or a 0.

If you submit your visa application on e-Visa.co.uk, we will always check whether you accidentally switched up the letter O and the number 0. If this error is discovered, it will be corrected for you immediately. This will allow you to travel without any issues.

Did you submit your visa application on another website? In most cases, this error will not be corrected, causing your visa to be invalid. It is not possible to change the passport number afterwards; you will need to apply for an entirely new visa.

  • I do not understand one of the questions in the form. What should I do?

If you use a computer or a laptop to apply for your visa, you can click on the input field of the question you are struggling with. Then you will receive additional information on the right.

If you use a mobile phone or a tablet to fill in the application form, you can see a question mark icon next to each question. By clicking on the question mark, you will receive an additional explanation on how to answer the question.

If you still do not know how you should answer a particular question, you can contact the customer service of e-Visa.co.uk.

  • How much does the Cambodia visa cost, and how can I pay?

The visa for Cambodia costs £64.95 per person. This is the final price per visa, including consular fees, service costs and taxes.

Do you want to make use of the optional services that e-Visa.co.uk offers? Submitting an urgent application comes at a £17.50 surcharge per visa. You can also choose to offset the CO₂-emissions of your return flight. Finally, German and Dutch nationals may choose to register their trip at the German or Dutch embassy in Cambodia. The costs for these additional services are displayed in the application form.

You can pay easily with a Mastercard, Visa or American Express credit card, PayPal, Trustly, Google Pay or Apple Pay. After you made the payment, you can download a receipt. The invoice becomes available once your application is fully processed. You can download these documents on your personal status page.

After submitting a visa application

  • I have not received an e-mail yet. What should I do?

After you make the payment, you will be sent a confirmation by e-mail. In some cases, it may take up to a day until you receive this e-mail. Has it been more than one day and have you still not received an e-mail? Please check the spam or junk folder of your e-mail first. If you cannot find an e-mail by e-Visa.co.uk in your spam either, you can look up the status of your application on the contact page. You can find the contact details of the customer service on the same page.

  • The confirmation e-mail contains erroneous details. What should I do?

To protect your personal information, the confirmation e-mail only contains a part of the details you submitted. This is completely normal and should not worry you. Read the details carefully. If you spot any errors, you can contact the customer service. You can change the details until your application is forwarded to Cambodia’s immigration service. This happens right after e-Visa.co.uk accepts your documents.

  • How do I receive the visa?

The visa is issued in PDF format. Once your application has been fully processed, you receive an e-mail and a text message. The e-mail contains information about how you can download your visa. You must print the visa twice and carry both copies during your trip.

  • Can I change my documents or details?

You can change your documents or details until your application has been forwarded to Cambodia’s immigration service. This happens almost immediately after your documents have been accepted by e-Visa.co.uk. You receive a confirmation by e-mail once your documents are approved. The easiest way to make changes is to reply to an e-mail that you received from e-Visa.co.uk. You will always receive a response within one working day. If you send your e-mail during office hours, you will receive a response within a few hours. In urgent situations, you can call the customer service.

After your documents are accepted, there is usually no way to edit your details any more. However, this is not always necessary, either. e-Visa.co.uk checks and corrects frequently made errors based on the passport scan you submitted. Read the answer to the question ‘My visa contains an error. What should I do?’ to find out which mistakes can be problematic, and what you can do to correct them.

  • Can I cancel my application?

You can cancel your application until you have submitted your documents and your documents have been accepted by a visa expert at e-Visa.co.uk. You can respond to an e-mail you received from e-Visa.co.uk to cancel your application.

Right after your documents are accepted, your application is forwarded to Cambodia’s immigration service. From that moment onwards, you can no longer cancel an application. Most travellers want to receive their visa as soon as possible. Therefore, there is no cooling-off or withdrawal period. This is included in the general terms and conditions you agreed to by ticking the box before making the payment.

  • My application is still pending after a long time. What should I do?

Visa applications for Cambodia are processed in 7 days on average. Urgent applications are processed in only 4 days on average. These are average values which cannot be guaranteed. Therefore, some visa applications may experience delays. The average delivery time begins once your documents have been accepted by e-Visa.co.uk. Your application is then sent to Cambodia’s immigration service, after which e-Visa.co.uk can no longer influence the speed at which your application is processed.

Are you travelling to Cambodia in more than 30 days? Then your application is put on hold. This is done to prevent your visa from expiring before your planned arrival in Cambodia. 30 days before your expected arrival date, you will receive an e-mail with instructions about how to submit the required documents. Your application will be processed right after, so you will receive your visa on time.

Has your application been pending for an above-average amount of time and are you leaving on short notice? Check your personal status page and your e-mail first. You might have received an update about your application. If you have not received anything yet, you can contact the customer service. A visa expert of e-Visa.co.uk can check whether your application is complete, and whether it has been forwarded to the immigration service. There is no way to influence the speed at which the immigration service processes applications. A high workload, public holidays and sample checks may cause delays. Most applications are still processed on time, however.

  • My application has been rejected. What should I do?

Visa applications for Cambodia are rarely rejected. If your application is rejected, it is not always easy to find out the reason for that. Most rejections are caused by one of these reasons:

    • You made an error while filling in the application form
    • Your documents do not meet the requirements
    • You do not meet the visa requirements
    • Cambodia’s immigration service has reason to believe you are a risk for public security

If you know that the rejection is caused by erroneous documents or data, you may submit a new visa application with correct documents and data. A new application will most likely be approved, but do this at your own risk. If your application was rejected for another reason, you should not try to submit a new application, as it will most likely be rejected. In that case, you are advised to contact the Cambodian embassy.

  • My visa contains an error. What should I do?

It is not possible to change the details of a visa after it has been issued. Luckily, it is not always necessary to make changes, as the visa is often still valid, regardless of a mistake. The visa is still valid if there is an error in the contact details. This means that it is not a problem if you filled in a wrong address, telephone number or e-mail address. Your visa also remains valid if you moved homes in the meantime.

Also, it is usually not a problem if your travel plans have changed. You may arrive at another location in Cambodia than the one you entered in the application form. However, your actual arrival location must be included in the list of permitted entry locations. You may also stay at another place than originally planned. Finally, you may also change your travel data, as long as you arrive in Cambodia within the validity term of your visa.

The following mistakes are a problem and mean that your visa is invalid:

    • Your passport number is incorrect
    • Your name does not correspond with the spelling of your name in the machine-readable zone (MRZ) of your passport
    • Your nationality is incorrect
    • Your date of birth is incorrect
    • The gender on the visa does not correspond with the gender in your passport
    • There is another person’s photograph on your visa
    • You travel to Cambodia after the expiry date of your visa

If any of these apply to you, your visa is invalid. It is not possible to change the details afterwards. The only way to correct a mistake is to apply for a new visa.

  • Can I extend my visa?

You can extend your visa in Cambodia, allowing you to stay in the country for up to 60 days. You can apply for an extension yourself at the immigration office in Phnom Penh, or you can let a company in Cambodia arrange the extension for you. e-Visa.co.uk cannot assist you with this. You can find more information about extending the visa on the page about the geldigheidsduur.

Other frequently asked questions

  • Do children need a visa, and what else do I need to consider when travelling with children?

The information on this page applies both to adults as to minors. That means that children also need a valid visa and a passport to be allowed to travel to Cambodia.

Is your child travelling without one or more parents/guardians? In that case, the child or their accompanying adult must be carrying a written consent form throughout the trip. It must be signed by both parents or all legal guardians. In some cases, it might be necessary to carry copies of the legal guardians’ identity cards or passports. An international birth certificate is usually also accepted. More information can be found at gov.uk.

  • Can I travel to Cambodia if I have a criminal record?

The Cambodian immigration service does not ask you whether you have a criminal record. You do not have to provide this information when you apply for a visa. Therefore, a criminal record usually does not affect a visa application. However, there is a higher chance of your application being rejected if you committed a crime in the past that is known to the Cambodian immigration service.

  • Which vaccinations do I need for my trip to Cambodia?

The information on this page was not written by a doctor. It is always a good idea to consult your GP or a specialist doctor about recommended vaccinations and/or medication in your situation. The advice may differ between persons, as well as the exact travel plans.

If you stayed in a country with a risk of yellow fever transmission before travelling to Cambodia, you are required to be vaccinated against yellow fever. Also, the UK government generally recommends the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine as well as a vaccination against diphtheria-tetanus-polio. You can contact your GP for personal advice.

  • What medication am I allowed to bring to Cambodia?

You are allowed to bring medicine to Cambodia, but you may require a special licence. You can contact the embassy of Cambodia for more information about carrying medicine and drugs to the country.

  • Is a registration at the embassy mandatory?

Travellers may register their trip with the FCO (Foreign and Commonwealth Office). This is optional, meaning that you are not obligated to do so.

Why is registration with the embassy recommended?
By registering your trip with the embassy, you give the UK government the opportunity to contact you during your trip. This is mainly to provide information in exceptional crisis situations. During the Covid-pandemic, for example, travellers were informed of changing travel advice and repatriation flights.

How can I register my trip with the embassy?
Registering your trip can be done on the government website.

  • How does the CO₂-offset through e-Visa.co.uk work?

After you fill in the application form, you will be given the option to offset the CO₂-emissions of your tip. This is a voluntary contribution that is entirely invested in VCS-certified projects. VCS is one of the best known and most reliable certifiers of climate projects. All projects linked to this certificate are strictly monitored to ensure that they have a positive climate impact. The projects are carried out in various parts of the world, with the aim of reducing CO₂-emissions and supporting social developments. These include reforestation campaigns in Zimbabwe, the development of renewable energy sources in Uganda or the installation of more energy-efficient cook tops in India.

The surcharge for the CO₂-offset depends on your travel destination and your home country. The contribution is calculated by looking at the CO₂-emissions of a two-way flight to Cambodia in economy class. By choosing to offset your CO₂-emissions, you can easily ensure that your flight is CO₂ neutral. More information about the CO₂-offset through e-Visa.co.uk.
