For several months now, there have been rumours of a possible increase in the price of the e-visa for Egypt. Recently, the Egyptian Immigration Service has raised the consular fees for the e-visa by EUR 4.30 (USD 5).

The e-visa for Egypt

European citizens need a visa to travel to Egypt. It is recommended that you apply for an e-visa before your trip. This way, you will avoid long queues at the visa office and can go straight to your hotel. Obtaining a visa on arrival is a reasonable fallback option only if you are travelling in a few days’ time and do not have enough time to apply for an e-visa.

There are two types of e-visa for Egypt. The single-entry visa allows you to enter Egypt once during its 90-day validity period. From the date of arrival, you may stay in Egypt for 30 days. The multiple-entry visa for Egypt is suitable for travellers who plan to enter Egypt several times during their trip. With this type of visa, you may enter Egypt an unlimited number of times during the 180-day validity period. Each stay may last for a maximum of 30 days

At e-Visa.co.uk You can easily apply for an e-visa for Egypt using an application form with clear explanations. The application process is quite straightforward and involves filling in the application form and submit a photo of their passport. Once the application has been submitted, the e-visa is usually granted within 11 days. Urgent applications are processed, on average, within 5 days. Here you will find more information about the price and the requirements.

What is the price increase for the Egypt e-visa?

On 27 April 2026, the fees for the e-visa were updated on the Egyptian Immigration Service’s website. Since then, the consular fees have been EUR 25.50 (30 USD) for a single-entry visa and EUR 55.60 (USD 65) for a multiple-entry visa.

The cost of the visa on arrival (VOA) has increased by EUR 4.30 (USD 5) since 1 March 2026.

Reasons for the increase in the price of the e-visa

Tourism is a major source of income for Egypt. By increasing the consular fees for the e-visa, the government aims to generate additional revenue. According to the Egyptian government, this additional revenue will be used in part to improve consular services, border controls and digital visa systems. Compared to travel authorisations from other countries, Egypt’s e-visa consular fees remain fairly stable. For example, the costs of the UK ETA have already increased twice since its introduction in 2023. As a result, the consular costs of the UK ETA have doubled. However, the recent increase in the price of the Egyptian e-Visa is the first since the visa was introduced in 2017.
