The total cost for a standard application of the Vietnam visa is £54.95 per person. You need to apply for this visa before departure, which means that you will also need to pay the application cost prior to departure. Since 2020, it is no longer possible to apply for a Vietnam Visa On Arrival (VOA). Instead, you can use the easy-to-use online form to apply through this website. The visa is on average issued within 13 days.

Cost of the Vietnam e-visa

You can no longer obtain a Vietnam Visa On Arrival. You now need to apply for a visa before your departure. For holiday travel, business travel or a transit in Vietnam, you can easily apply online. Once granted, you will receive an email confirmation, and you can download your e-visa from your personal status page in a PDF format. This visa enables you to stay up to 90 days in Vietnam.

Because the visa application is entirely online, there is no need to visit the Vietnamese embassy in London. This will not only save time, but will also ensure that you will already have paid the full visa cost before your travel. An e-visa does not require the payment of a stamping fee on arrival in Vietnam, as was the case with the old Visa on Arrival. The total cost for a standard application of the Vietnam e-visa is £54.95.

How the Vietnam visa costs are structured

Fixed fee for all visa costs

The aforementioned cost of £54.95 for the Vietnam visa application comprises the amount total per person. This total cost already includes the consular fee (640,352 VND) as well as the service charge (£34.95) and the legally mandated VAT. This applies to the Vietnam e-visa with a maximum validity period of 90 days. The visa has an average delivery time of 13 days.

In more detail: the visa cost structure explained

The e-visa’s consular cost is determined by the Vietnamese government. A part of these fees go directly to the immigration department, while the rest goes to the Vietnamese national treasury as a form of tourism tax.

The service charge applies to the services of e-Visa.co.uk. The services include a manual check of the application by a visa specialist. They will review each document provided with your application and compare it with the information you previously entered in the application form. This check regularly finds errors in the form, or in the submitted documents. The visa specialist will fix the errors for you, or contact you so you can make the necessary changes yourself. This check takes place before your visa application is forwarded to the Vietnamese Immigration Department. This reduces the chance that an already approved visa turns out to be invalid, or that the application itself is rejected. 24/7 customer support is also included in your application and made possible by these very same service costs.

Urgent Vietnam visa application

Surcharge for an urgent application
Is the standard average delivery time of 13 days a bit tight for your travel plans? If you prefer so, you can have your visa application processed urgently. To do so, please check the box for ‘Urgent deliveryʼ in the application form. Urgent applications for the Vietnam visa are on average issued in 5 days. For an urgent application a surcharge of £17.50 per visa applies.

In more detail: no maximum delivery time guarantees

A maximum delivery time for any Vietnam visa can never be guaranteed. This is partly due to possible random checks by the immigration authorities that are carried out unexpectedly and can cause delays. The system used by Vietnam's immigration department to process visa applications is also one of the possible causes of delays. This system may be offline for several hours or even days in the event of a technical malfunction or maintenance works. To a lesser extent, this also applies to the systems of e-Visa.co.uk. Issues of this nature could equally occur for urgent applications.

Urgent applications are checked and processed with priority by e-Visa.co.uk, including at weekends and during public holidays. However, e-Visa.co.uk cannot exert any influence on the processing times of the immigration department. Do not take any risks that could result in you not receiving your visa in time, and apply for your Vietnam visa well in advance of your departure date. Ideally, do so at least several weeks ahead of your departure. You do not need to pay the urgent application surcharge this way, and you will have more certainty that your application is processed in time.

Optional surcharge for compensation of expected CO₂ emissions

In the application form for the Vietnam visa you can indicate whether you want to compensate for the CO₂ emissions of your travel. This optional service costs a surcharge, which is dependent upon your travel situation. You can find the specific fees for your travel situation in the application form.

By using the CO₂ compensation scheme, the CO₂ emissions from your flight to Vietnam will be offset through VCS-certified projects.

No visa stamping fee upon arrival in Vietnam

Until 2020 most tourists visiting Vietnam chose to apply for the Visa On Arrival (VOA). You had to pay at two different moments. Once before departure, by paying for an approval letter, and a second time upon arrival for a mandatory stamping fee. An approval letter could only be obtained from a commercial visa service, which charged variable fees. The stamping fee (costing 25 USD) had to be paid to the Vietnamese Immigration Department. In the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Vietnamese Immigration Department stopped issuing the VOA. Travellers can now apply for an e-visa, but the VOA is no longer available. When applying for the online e-visa, you only need to pay a single time. It is no longer necessary to pay an additional stamping fee upon arrival.

e-Visa.co.uk is a commercial and professional visa agency, and supports travellers in obtaining, among others, the Vietnam visa. e-Visa.co.uk is an official partner of the International Air Transport Association, IATA, with membership number 57231226, acts as an intermediary, is no law firm, nor does it employ lawyers, does not provide legal advice, and is in no way part of any government. You can also apply for a visa directly with the immigration service (640,352 VND per visa, via evisa.gov.vn). However, not with our level of support. If you submit your application via e-Visa.co.uk, our support centre is available to you 24/7. In addition, we manually check your application and all the documents you provide before submitting it to the immigration authorities on your behalf. If we suspect any errors or omissions while doing so, we will personally contact you to ensure that your application can still be processed quickly and correctly. To use our services, you pay us 640,352 VND in consular fees, which we pay to the immigration service on your behalf, as well as £34.95 in service fees as compensation for our services, including VAT. Our services have saved many travellers from major problems during their trip. Should an application be rejected despite our support and verification, we will refund the full purchase price (unless an application for a previous Vietnam visa was rejected for the same traveller).
