Cambodia has been monitoring the arrival and departure of travellers who use the v-Pass digital system since July 2025. Travellers do not have stickers stamped on their passports any more. Instead, they receive a digital confirmation.
Digitalisation of immigration procedures
In the last few years years, immigration procedures in Cambodia have been more and more digitalised. Travellers don't longer need to go to the embassy to go on holiday to Cambodia. They can simply apply for an e-visa.
The e-Arrival Card
The Cambodian authorities have also introduced a digital arrival form: the e-Arrival Card. Formerly, passengers had to fill in a form on the plane, just before arrival. Thanks to the new e-Arrival Card, passengers can fill in the arrival form from home.
The reason behind the introduction of digital immigration systems
The Cambodian government wants to streamline entry procedures and make them more convenient through digitalisation. This will shorten waiting times and enhance security at the airport.
How does the v-Pass work on arrival?
The v-Pass was introduced on 1 July 2025 at all international airports and seaports in Cambodia. On arrival, travellers need to show their passport to the immigration officials, then they automatically receive their v-Pass by email. The document is also available in the Cambodian government's app (Cambodia e-Arrival) or on the website. arrival.gov.kh. Travellers must keep their v-Pass for the entire duration of their trip. A printed version is also accepted. The v-Pass includes some important information, such as the maximum length of stay allowed. Travellers are submitted to a second passport check upon departure from Cambodia. Their departure date will be automatically registered, no need to place a sticker on the passport.
The different steps of the Cambodian immigration process
The first step to plan your trip is to apply for an e-visa. After the e-visa has been granted, travellers can fill in the e-Arrival Card in the 7 days prior to their arrival in Cambodia. As a consequence, passport control goes seamlessly. The e-Arrival Card may, if necessary, also be completed on arrival. Travellers will automatically receive their v-Pass with the maximum permitted length of stay at passport control.
